August 10-14
1. Read 1984. You should read 20 pages per day, not counting weekends. Use weekend days as catch-up days if you fall behind during the week. Be prepared for
discussions and reading quizzes.
2. As you read, answer study guide questions and copy sentences using vocabulary
words from vocab. #1 list. Study for vocab. quiz scheduled for Wed., Aug. 19.
3. Research your Great Ideas topic choices. Final selection due Thurs., Aug. 13. As you read 1984, jot down notes about connections to your topic.
4. Locate and bring to class on Mon., August 17, current events articles that show connections to 1984.
August 17-21
1. Continue to read 1984--20 pages per day. You should be through page 201 by the
end of the week.
2. Current events article will be used during class on Wed. for a writing assignment.
Be sure you have a hard copy of your article with you in class so that you can
receive credit for the assignment. If you were absent, see the folder for the
instruction sheet for this assignment.
3. Library Days begin this week. Check calendar. These are not "free days," so come to
class and be prepared to work on your research assignment.
